Slow speeds on MLDonkey?

I've seen people commenting that there are issues of slow speed when using MLDonkey on DNS-323.

Several points to take note of:

  1. Have you configured the port to be used for MLDonkey?
  2. If you are using a router. Have you forwarded the port for your MLDonkey?
  3. You can tweak the settings for MLDonkey under the options. Have you configured it?
  4. You can tweak the connection rate, number of uploaders (globally and per torrent).

Hopefully, these simple checks will help you identify why your MLDonkey is not working as fast as expected.

Download torrents using DNS-323

Somebody just added another functionality to the fantastic DNS-323! Now has the ability to download ed2k links in addition to the default ftp, http and https. Best of all, it has the ability to download torrents. You've heard me right. A new bittorrent client on DNS-323 itself!

In the past, people have relied on ctorrent and this has several limitations. One of the major problem of ctorrent is that it requires its own dedicated port for each torrent you run. Another would be the difficulty of administrating your downloads due to the lack of GUI client.

shadowandy has compiled MLDonkey for use on DNS-323. Users can use a desktop application (sancho) or web interface to monitor/control the mlnet core. So what are you waiting for? Head over to shadowandy's blog to get a copy of MLDonkey.

telnet daemon

This is one telnet daemon you wouldn't give it a miss. Beside telnet, the package come with several binaries as well, just to list a few:

  • lighttpd - for setting up your own web server
  • dropbear - for a more secure command line remote access
Do check out this package by fonz. The steps to set up the package can be found on fonz's site and shadowandy's site as well.
