MLDonkey (stable)

shadowandy has again tweak the settings to make MLDonkey run stably on the DNS-323. Users have feedback that they can now complete large torrents (7GB) at much faster speed! There are no issues of slow response from the set with the new MLDonkey.

If you have problem with completing your torrents. Do get the mlnet.sh file from shadowandy's website.

DNS-323 Emulator

D-Link has put up an emulator of DNS-323. In my opinion, it is a great way for users to know the system before getting their hands on the hardware.

Torrent stuck at 99%

There are a handful of users who get torrents stucked at 99% when they are using the MLDonkey binary from shadowandy. Seems like shadowandy has fixed the problem!

From his posts, he initially identified the problem due to the lack of space on the mount "/". Just like he faced problem initially with the disk full problem when MLDonkey attempted to write to "/.mldonkey" where he did a symbolic link (symlink) to a directory on "/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey". Later on he further improvised on it and did away with the symlink.

Instead of symlinking "/tmp" to a directory on "/mnt/HD_a2", he further tweaked the configurations of MLDonkey! Took out a few stuffs and MLDonkey is completing torrents like it always should!

Kudos!

Follow the guide which can be found in this post on shadowandy's website to solve your problem!

Slow speeds on MLDonkey?

I've seen people commenting that there are issues of slow speed when using MLDonkey on DNS-323.

Several points to take note of:

  1. Have you configured the port to be used for MLDonkey?
  2. If you are using a router. Have you forwarded the port for your MLDonkey?
  3. You can tweak the settings for MLDonkey under the options. Have you configured it?
  4. You can tweak the connection rate, number of uploaders (globally and per torrent).

Hopefully, these simple checks will help you identify why your MLDonkey is not working as fast as expected.

Download torrents using DNS-323

Somebody just added another functionality to the fantastic DNS-323! Now has the ability to download ed2k links in addition to the default ftp, http and https. Best of all, it has the ability to download torrents. You've heard me right. A new bittorrent client on DNS-323 itself!

In the past, people have relied on ctorrent and this has several limitations. One of the major problem of ctorrent is that it requires its own dedicated port for each torrent you run. Another would be the difficulty of administrating your downloads due to the lack of GUI client.

shadowandy has compiled MLDonkey for use on DNS-323. Users can use a desktop application (sancho) or web interface to monitor/control the mlnet core. So what are you waiting for? Head over to shadowandy's blog to get a copy of MLDonkey.
